The Thermal Dog Pad from Ortocanis provides a comfortable resting surface made with functional Back on Track® textile containing ceramic particles. The material reflects part of the dog’s natural body heat without using electricity, cables or an artificial heating element.
Measuring 76 × 58 cm, this flexible and portable pad can be placed in many of the areas where a dog normally rests. It may be particularly appreciated by senior dogs, active dogs following exercise and animals that prefer a comfortable surface that helps retain their natural warmth.
The pad can be rolled for easier transportation and storage, making it suitable for use at home, during travel or in certain supervised veterinary and rehabilitation environments.
Back on Track® Textile
Back on Track® functional textile is manufactured using fibres containing ceramic particles. These particles interact with the natural warmth generated by the dog’s body and reflect a portion of that warmth toward the animal.
The Thermal Dog Pad does not generate heat independently. Its function depends on the body heat produced by the dog resting on the textile.
Because there is no electrical heating system, the product requires no power cable, outlet or temperature control.
No Electricity Required
The pad contains no electrical heating element. There is no cord for the dog to chew and no need to position the resting area near an electrical outlet.
This makes the product easy to move between rooms and convenient for travel.
The absence of electricity does not mean that the dog should be left completely unsupervised when first using the pad. Monitor the animal’s comfort and make sure it can move away from the surface whenever it wishes.
Comfortable Resting Surface
Rest can be especially important for senior dogs and animals with sensitive muscles or joints.
The pad creates a soft, flexible surface that can be used over an existing bed, inside a crate of suitable dimensions or directly on a clean, stable floor.
It is not a thick orthopedic mattress and does not provide the same cushioning or weight distribution as the Ortocanis viscoelastic orthopedic dog mattress. Owners seeking greater pressure distribution may prefer to use this thermal pad in combination with an appropriate supportive sleeping surface.
Suitable for Different Dogs
The Thermal Dog Pad may be useful as a resting accessory for:
- Senior dogs
- Dogs with sensitive joints
- Active or working dogs following exercise
- Dogs participating in supervised rehabilitation
- Dogs that prefer a warm resting area
- Dogs requiring a portable comfort surface
- Dogs resting on cooler floors
- Animals travelling with their owners
The pad is a comfort product. It is not intended to diagnose, treat or cure arthritis, injuries or other medical conditions.
Consult a veterinarian if your dog displays persistent stiffness, pain, weakness, limping or difficulty standing.
Format: 76 × 58 cm
The pad measures approximately:
- Length: 76 cm
- Width: 58 cm
Before ordering, compare these dimensions with the dog’s body length and normal resting position.
A medium-sized dog may be able to rest most of its body on the surface, while a larger dog may use it primarily underneath the torso or affected area.
The dog should be able to lie down comfortably without being forced into an unnatural position.
Flexible and Portable Design
The pad’s flexible construction allows it to be rolled for storage or transportation.
It can be used in many locations, including:
- On the dog’s regular bed
- In a properly sized crate
- On the floor at home
- In the vehicle while parked or travelling safely
- At a cottage or temporary residence
- During supervised rehabilitation appointments
- In a boarding or veterinary environment, when permitted
Always place the pad on a dry, stable and nonslip surface. Make sure it does not bunch, fold or slide underneath the dog.
Gradual Introduction
Back on Track® products should be introduced gradually.
During the first two or three days, begin with short periods and monitor the dog’s response. The manufacturer generally recommends limiting initial use to approximately four hours per day.
After the introductory period, wearing or resting time may be increased according to the dog’s comfort and the recommendations provided by a veterinary professional.
The dog should always be able to leave the pad voluntarily.
Monitoring Your Dog
Observe the dog during initial use and inspect the skin or coat areas in contact with the pad.
Stop using the product if the dog appears unusually restless, excessively warm or uncomfortable.
Dogs may have different tolerances depending on their age, coat, health, medication and surrounding temperature. Use additional caution during hot weather or in a warm indoor environment.
The pad should not be used as a substitute for an insulated sleeping area during extreme cold.
Care and Maintenance
Keep the pad clean and dry. Remove loose hair and surface debris regularly.
Follow the washing instructions provided on the product label. Back on Track® textiles generally require a gentle wash without bleach or fabric softener and should be allowed to air dry.
Avoid harsh chemicals that could damage the functional fibres. Make sure the pad is completely dry before returning it to the dog.
Inspect it regularly for torn fabric, damaged seams or signs of chewing. Discontinue use if the ceramic textile or interior material becomes exposed.
Veterinary Guidance
The Thermal Dog Pad is intended to provide a comfortable resting surface and help reflect the dog’s natural body heat. It does not replace veterinary assessment, medication, physiotherapy or other recommended treatments.
Consult a veterinarian if your dog has difficulty getting up, persistent morning stiffness, reduced mobility or changes in behaviour.
ConceptASR Vet offers personalized assistance in English and French for customers who would like to compare this thermal pad with the Ortocanis orthopedic dog mattress or other canine comfort products.
